Surely this means that the value transparency is disappearing. Maybe they don't want to lose margin by matching Asda prices.
On 26 April we're ending Brand Match.
Why are we doing this?
We've been talking to customers all over the country. And they've told us that having lower regular prices across the store is more important than Brand Match.
We believe in clear, simple pricing and over the past 18 months we've been lowering regular prices on thousands of products, removing price promotions like fractions and percentages and reducing the number of multibuys.
You'll still get good value
By ending Brand Match, we can invest more in what you tell us matters.
We'll put the money we used to spend on Brand Match towards lower regular prices on our products. And we'll continue to monitor our prices on brands to make sure we stay competitive.

I'd love to know who you've been talking to, because this is a real loss for customers!
I've used Brand Match every week from "day 1" and on average saved over £200 a year.
Even if you lower your prices to match all other competitors, it will not be the same as using Brand Match; simply because, with the higher prices at the till, we (customers) earned more Nectar points on top of getting the price difference back via vouchers. If you now lower prices to match or beat competitors; lower prices means less Nectar points.
This is such a shame!0 -
You'd save even more if you shop at Aldi/Lidl!0

That is such a shame. Even if the difference is minimal it is still a positive that as a shopper even a little is being saved. Hope this does not mean you are also stopping the money off the next shop voucher!0
