Been to Disneyworld, Florida for just over two weeks. Been back a week but busy in RL so have only just caught up on here.
I can’t recommend Disneyworld too highly, I was very pleasantly surprised with everything there as I previously suspected that it was over-hyped. Here is a brief resume (Savvy Style) of the trip:-
We travelled as a family of 6, Wifey & I, DS, DIL and 2 Grandkids, 4 and 6 years – we all loved it, something for all of us every day.
We did the Disney Package of Accommodation, Dining Pack, Photo Pack, Park Entry (14 days for price of 7) etc which worked out at excellent value. The Accommodation was a huge Apartment with all facilities (We were surprised to have daily Maid Service with Fresh Linen, Toiletries etc) in a themed Apartment Block in Saratoga Springs, a complex the size of Center Parcs with 3 Pools, Restaurants and lots of other facilities. The Dining Pack was brilliant, we could eat anywhere including the various Parks. Basically 2 Meals per day of 3 items Starter/Main/Dessert or Drink or various snacks/Ice Creams etc. (At the end of the two weeks we had 51 meals left so the Cashier told us to get 153 of packets of sweets/ Lollies/ Cartons etc, all Disney Themed so we brought back many more presents than we would have done!) The Photo pack was great too, at most venues there were always plenty of official photographers willing to take your photos, which were uploaded to you within a few minutes via the free Disney App. We got several more group photos than we would have done, which was a bonus. They encouraged us to have photos of each couple too and especially the kids, often taking about 10 snaps. They also did not mind taking photos with our own cameras/phones too. The Package also included a $200 Voucher to spend on Disney Merchandise. I believe this Package is still available with 3% Quidco Cashback.
There was a very regular free bus service to all of the Parks etc and a free boat taxi to Disney Springs – saving the 10 minute walk! Disney Springs is a virtually completely revamped Disney Town with many Restaurants, Shops etc and the purpose built Circus de Soleil.
We only went out of the Disney ‘bubble’ twice, once to a nearby Wallmart to stock up with breakfast supplies (also a good source of cheaper Disney merchandise) and to a Designer Retail Park. We got Uber Taxis which were very quick and reasonable, including Airport shuttles. Other than that we were caught up in the timeless magic of Disney and the overall ‘smiley’ atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and we received service far better than we are used too, wherever we went.
We were given ‘Magic’ wristbands which were the key to everything, the Apartment, Restaurants, Purchases anywhere, FastTrack Rides, Park entry, etc so there was no need to carry much cash. (We actually spent very little, apart from presents and on the Grandkids of course)
The Disney App was very useful, we could FastTrack up to 3 rides per day so that we could bypass the regular queues which was great, especially with young kids. When those 3 were done we could FastTrack any more that were still available. We did most of the rides, some several times. I am not very keen on Roller Coasters & Fast Rides but there was nothing too scary. The only one we didn’t do was the Aerosmith one as it wasn’t practical with the kids. We even went Parasailing! One surprise was that photos taken on the rides were often automatically uploaded to the App without the need to request them.
DIL is a Teacher so she planned a lot of our schedule before we went which was brilliant. Some of the themed Restaurants get booked up 6 months in advance so it is well worth planning. The themed Dining Areas usually had the Disney Characters & Princesses visit every table so saved a lot of queuing too. Only thing to look out for is that although these Restaurants are included in the Dining Plan, Tips are not. For the 6 of us the Meals would have been about 300 dollars and the suggested tip is about 18% - payable with cash/cc or Magic Band. Otherwise Tips are included in most places.
Disabled are well catered for and often given priority. There are special doors/ramps on all busses and many of the rides.
Just one tip – Selfie Sticks are banned in all the Parks, they are kept at the Entrance and can be collected on the way out.
Overall it is an amazing and extremely efficient ‘World’ that far exceeded our expectations. I see that several of you are thinking of visiting, my advice is to go as soon as you can. If you plan your flights they can be fairly reasonable, the other spending is not as much as I expected and it included more than we could have hoped for, so there is little need to spend much while you are there.
Sorry to go on – but we enjoyed it! Will be pleased to answer any questions as there is so much more to tell.
ChelseaFred:)
You certainly enjoyed your trip ..I first went there 30 years ago
And found it a perfect holiday as you did.
Every thing was so much better than other holidays although I had
been to Canada a couple of times and their hospitality and their service was good ....Disney service is past good.
I have been several times with out kids as it is just has such a brilliant atmosphere a calming happy feeling in the air all day long0 -

Sounds like you had a good time ChelseaFred I will be cheering for you lads tonight
I think most neutrals want Leicester to win the league. Even a draw tonight would do it for them.
Always very competitive between Chelsea & Spurs and Chelsea will not want their London rivals to win the league so an extra edge.
I will be working but will avoid the score if possible and watch it 'live' when I get home at 2am.
Fingers crossed but anything could happen this season!
