  • I asked for samples. I got an e-mail saying they're not supplying samples at the moment, but if I register on the Avon website they'll send me a brochure or get a rep to contact me. :(

    Hi,

I know this is an old thread now but I am an Avon Rep and just to advise you that all Avon products are dermalogically tested so are suitable for sensitive skin, but if you did want to try a product and are not sure if it will be suitable for you (due to allergies, colour or smell) or not if you will like it, Avon do have a 90 day money back guarantee if you are not 100% happy with the item, even if you have tried it.

Obviously it is easier to return something if you have an Avon rep as they will return it themselves and buying through an Avon rep you don't pay for delivery.

Avon reps can also purchase sample products which they have to pay for but, in the case of lipsticks, they are the tiny lipstick testers, not full size. They can also get samples of perfumes, foundations, certain hair products etc, and some reps also have demo products, for example if they held an Avon party they could bring demo products for people to try out. This is possibly why they aren't sending out samples as if an Avon rep wants them they pay for them so the company get money.

If you need an Avon rep, go to the Avon website and they will find your local rep. (Avon only put Reps on this site who have qualified with sales figures, so if you are new, like me, they won't be on there yet, but if you don't have a rep in your street or know of one, it's worth looking on the site as delivery is free and you have no minimum order)

Thanks for posting this, a 90 day guarantee is all very well but its the hassle of ordering, finding something is not the right colour (I ordered a lipstick online and the colour looked different than it appeared on the website), sending it back for either refund or replacement, basically most of us are not going to bother. If, as you say, Avon Reps have to pay for their samples, they are unlikely to be handing them out often and I don't have an Avon Rep in any event. I have bought many products as a result of having a sample to try first and next to none with the thought that "oh well I can send it back if I don't like it", I just wouldn't bother in the first place. I order bits and pieces from the Avon site, including some wipes that were truly awful (soapy and left skin feeling tacky), I didn't bother sending them back as they didn't cost much but I won't ever buy wipes from Avon again, same goes for the lipstick. Avon are being short-sighted by refusing to give samples, and even more short-sighted by sending the wrong ones to the few people who have received them. I've asked for some and shall reserve judgement to see if I receive anything.

By the way, delivery is NOT free on the Avon website, it costs around £3.50, it is only free with larger orders and they occasionally have a 24 hour special with free delivery all day.

i used to include one in every brochure and it was actually rather annoying (and expensive) when they come back with the brochure - people don't always appreciate a free thing when they see it!
