Hello All,
I have just received the following dodgy looking email in my junk folder. I am wondering what it is. They have my previous address but I have no knowledge of this. I haven't lived in the previous address for 5 years. The email is from "amiles@sandyhill.org.uk". If you google sandyhill.org.uk it appears to be some kind of school in Cornwall (I live in Scotland! I don't even have children - why would I owe a school money?). Should I just ignore this!? IMP LTD shows no results on google either. Why would a school be collecting debt from IMP? I have no other correspondence from them. This is scary - just spam?

Dear <my full name>,
Regarding the amount due 1407.17 GBP, we act on behalf of IMP Ltd in order to collect the outstanding account value of your debt.
We would like to remind you that the amount above was due for payment on 30.03.16 but as no payment has been received, your invoice is now considered as overdue. Please find a printable version of your invoice at the following link:
<obscure looking link that I haven't clicked on>
Original invoice will be sent out to:
<full name>
<address and postcode of previous residence I occupied 5 years ago>
In order to avoid further costs, please forward the payment to us and transfer the amount due not later than 15.04.16
Regards,
Antonio Miles

100% spam. And well done for not clicking on the link, that's the bit that would have potentially installed some nasties on your PC. Just bin it.0

Thank you, All!
I'm sorry if I seemed so stupid asking this. But you see these things and panic (or at least I do!). Though it best to check with the experts on here to put my mind at rest.
Thanks again!

Favourite one doing the rounds at present is the PayPal invoice for Skype services, which I don't have lol !!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. If you have the slightest suspicion about any email with attachments, google for an on-line virus scanner. Upload the file and get it checked (best to use two or three). If ANY of the scanners come back with a positive, dump the whole email in your wastebin folder.
Not all virus scanners will pick warn about infected files - I think the scammers try to craft their wares so that they pass most of the on-line tests.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Do what I do; get a hacker's toolkit and choose a rather nasty one and attach and return. Strangely I've never had the spammers reply.0

Instead of an online scanner, which frankly could be a scam that gives you viruses, why not go with a reputable free virus scanner? I use AVG, Malwarebytes and Spybot, as well as Window's built in defences. If you bank online, you might be eligible for a free version of one of the paid for versions as well.
At the end of the day, never open an attachment from someone you don't know, be wary of opening emalls you aren't expecting, and never click on anything that tries to scare you in to doing so.

Thanks a lot. I use a mac - not sure if those anti virus software applies to it.
Just checked the link. "My tummy did a bit of a somersault when I read that, because I wondered who on earth I could owe £800 to and what was about to land on my doormat." Was exactly how I felt.
Thanks to you all for helping me with this.
