Good quality ironing board cover?

Options
Hi all,

I bought an ironing board (Minky) from Asda under 6 months ago and the cover has already ripped wide open. We only iron 6 items a week so I'm a bit cross  Unfortunately I no longer have the receipt and I can't find the transaction on my bank statement so I must've paid cash!

Can anyone recommend something that'll last a bit longer?

If this is your regular Asda & you know the staff it might be worth trying to ask them, just as a public relations thing. They can always say no, after all.

Plus one ripped board cover may have others - have you considered an email to Minky expressing honest indignation & distress at their reputable product collapsing in such a short time under such a short load?

Here's possibly an opportunity to see if Twitter really can help sort consumer issues?

I have sent Minky an email - hopefully they reply. I wish they were listed on Resolver, as I've had great luck with other things on there. I might have a punt with ASDA on there and see if they take pity on us and our wrinkly clothes!

I also bought a Minky cover which fell to bits after about oooh three uses.

I bought a Brabantia cover. Expensive but worth it.

My MIL (who does about 10 lots of ironing for every one of mine lol) swears by brabantia ironing board covers.

Thanks guys. Even though I have photos and have now found the bank statement, Minky won't do anything to help without a receipt... shoddy product, shoddy company!

    Will buy a brabantia now!

Another vote for Brabantia, our last cover held up for over five years. Only started failing with a new steam iron due to the increased water. Board is still in great shape, just replaced the cover with their steam version which is brilliant.

I was tempted to go through Resolver (affiliated with MSE) but there was a note saying that ASDA are absolutely crap at refunding and I shouldn't expect to get anywhere.

It's a shame really, as I recently had a similar issue with Sainsbobs and they refunded me in full + extra for my trouble.
