Advance Ticket Mistake...

Evening all, I think I know the answer is a resounding NO but going to ask anyway in case anyone has any pearls of wisdom between now and 9am tomorrow...

Earlier this evening I booked 5 lots of advance tickets from Chelmsford to Solihul and back (and 2 additional singles for the return) for the wrong date.... (18th June instead of 25th June) as soon as I emailed the confirmation to everyone, someone pointed out I had booked the wrong date.

Customer Services for Chiltern Railway closed at 5pm so I was unable to contact them immediately and I can't change them online as I haven't collected them yet.

What are my chances of them changing them for free in the morning as I've booked them so far in advance? I of course will pay the admin fee if I have to but as it's my screw-up, I can't ask the others to pay so it'll be £120 in fees if I have to pay for each ticket to be changed. So much for a cheap train ticket! :o

As I said, i think I know the answer but just praying someone has an idea or knowledge of something... otherwise I shall just resort to crying down the phone and hoping they feel sorry for me!

They're not refundable, but you can change them for a £10 fee, plus any price difference for the new date. Whether that fee is per return or per journey is not clear.

Unfortunately, the following can be found from your link:
...an administration fee of up to £10 per person, per single ticket for each change to a journey.

Although it says'up to £10' in there, I think all ticket sellers charge that maximum admin fee per ticket.

It is a discretionary fee OP, so you only hope is to put on your crying act.
  • Thanks guys... Frustrating to have to wait until tomorrow to speak to anyone. I have emailed them too so they can see I tried to contact them. So annoyed at myself!
