I'd cut the burnt bits off & eat the rest of the cakes (all by myself if i could get away with it as i love muffins).

Anyway i hope you can salvage some of them.
  • Really annoyd with myself as i made them for the kids packed lunches this week.Trying to be really good and save money this month so dont want to throw them out!! You are right though i could cut the top bits off and serve them with custard couldnt i??

Put the first lot in the lunch boxes and put the second lot with custard :)

Ooh, love plum pie's idea, too. Or make some kind of trifle?

    Hope you enjoy them!
  • It's one for the grown ups but I saw a recipe ages ago that had cubed up bits of chocolate muffin, sprinkled with Baileys and choc buttons, topped with some ready made custard which had whipped cream folded into it. Looked disgustingly good :)
  • Ooh, and I bet you could make a lovely black forest trifley thing with the muffins, some brandy or kirsch, some of those preserved or tinned cherries and whipped cream ...

When you have cut the burnt bits off could you slice them in half and put jam or butter icing in the middle and still put in their lunch boxes?
