  • Sorry for your loss. We were able to get quotes from a range of insurers for an empty and unfurnished property through Swinton Insurance Brokers.

    Didn't help that he changed to Santander not long ago, we're not sure if he was with Lloyds or Barclays before that.
    Sorry to hear of your loss.

    Can Santander not put you in touch with the previous bank? My experience of dealing with banks after a bereavement is that some (not all unfortunately) can be very helpful and sympathetic.

    Decided to start (again) with our son's mortgage lender, Tesco, to see if they would insure it. Instead of the person assigned to us as sole contact in the circumstances (& has been a bit of a prat so far), husband decided to speak with whoever answered the phone.

    Job done. She took seconds to look at his file which apparently indicated he'd been insured with Legal & General but not sure if that was still the case. Quick call to them showed that he was, buildings & contents, runs out in June & L&G are being very helpful.

    Another task done. Thanks everyone.
    Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
