Boss wants me to job swap

Hope someone can please advise me. I am a front-of-house receptionist for a quite large company and we have three medium size remote offices that are run by Office Managers. The Office Managers do a little front of house work but are mainly working on projects etc.. they are a higher grade than myself so therefore are on more pay. Also they work different hours to myself as it suits their needs for their roles. My Managers want me to job swap with these Office Managers.
Whilst I am happy to go to these offices and do the FOH role on the same hours I currently work, I do not wish to change my working hours or do the office manager role especially for the same grade/pay.
Can anyone please advise me if I have any rights on this (I have been with the company for 12 years)?

This is a conversation you should be holding with your manager.

I will be having the conversation with him soon so just wanted to know where I stand before the conversation.
The pay would not change my mind on the idea as I had opportunity to apply for these roles when they came up but decided I was more suited to my current role.
Just want to know if this can be implemented without my agreement.

If you move to cover other places as front of house how will your roll be covered?
Is the current roll expanding if you cover other offices?
Travel changes?

So you are swopping jobs with someone on a higher pay scale than you - You are expected to do their role and they do yours but they stay on the higher scale and you remain on the lower scale ? Or are you just essentially swapping locations ?

If you've been doing the same job for 12 years they can't fire you for refusing a job swap, they would have to make your job 'redundant'. That might be something they want to do, if they decide that they are swapping everyone's roles about. If that is the case you'd have to chose to take the new job or redundancy.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Sorry this is so hard to explain! They want the Office Managers and myself and my colleague to all do a month doing the job at each office on a rolling rota. However just myself and my colleague are pure FOH receptionists on the lowest grade and pay within the company. The others are Office Managers, do only a little reception work as their offices don't warrant a receptionist. So we are being asked to go and do another role, at another office for the same pay and grade.0

Simply say you are thankful of the "promotion" and ask what the new pay grade is for the promoted role.I do Contracts, all day every day.0

Realistically, the answer is almost certainly, one way or another, if this is what they really want to do. Changes can be enforced - what the outcome of doing that would be would depend on how the employer chose to do it, but in 99% of the options, it would leave you without a job. Redundancy; the infamous "and any other duties" line in your contract; enforcing a contractual change; restructure; flexibility; multi-tasking / multi skilling - there are a whole range of lawful ways in which an employer can enforce such a change and justify it under business requirements. At best you end up redundant, at worst without either a job or redundancy.
If the employer is set on this proposal, you may be better to focus on conditions and pay. But in the first place, you need to know why they are doing it. Like it or not, it may actually be that this is needed to save jobs or the business, and that may put things in a different light for you. It would certainly put you in a weak position to argue against it.0 -

I think I understand what you are trying to say but I can't see what sense it makes for the business?
They want you, your colleague and the three higher paid office managers to do a monthly rotation through each of your respective jobs but stay on the same pay? So when you and your colleague go to one of the other offices you'll be expected to pick up the other project work for no more pay? And the office managers will be doing your job but on more pay than you?
Perhaps your employers are experimenting to find better ways of working. I've certainly worked in some places where swapping managers and staff would have been an improvement!
I think as sangie says you really need to find out exactly what is being proposed and why. It doesn't sound sensible to me, but maybe it does make sense to your empoyers0 -
Are they really expecting you to do the project part or just the FOH bits?
it may be you just move locations but the people carry ondoing their same jobs.0
