You are quite sure it's not RPI capped at 2%? RPI + 2% is remarkably good. It might incline him not to surrender pension to earn more lump sum.
Another question worth asking: for the FS section, does your widow's pension depend on how your OH balances lump sum versus pension, or is it set in stone whatever he chooses? (I opted for more lump sum and less pension, having established that my widow's pension wouldn't suffer from that choice.)
One last point: how sound are the finances of the FS scheme? Do any of your OH's friends or colleagues have any insight into it? What do the annual reports say about assets versus liabilities?Free the dunston one next time too.0 -

Re pensions increase Is this relevant to your husband's section of the scheme?

"Pension Increases
Once in payment, your pension is guaranteed to increase each year on 1 April by the rise in the Retail Prices Index (RPI) during the previous 12 months subject (if the Company determines) to a maximum
of 5%. If RPI does not increase, your pension will remain at the same level (it will not decrease).
Different increases apply to any pension in respect of a Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP) or any
pension derived from voluntary contributions. Please contact Pension Services for further information. "0 -
