Exercise bike

Myself and my wife are on a get healthier/fitter kick lately and we would like to buy an exercise bike. I've had a look around both offline and online and am unsure which one to go for. We would like to keep it under £100 if possible, under £80 would be ideal. It needs to be of good quality, and able to measure distance/time/calories/speed etc. What companies should I be looking at? What do you recommend? Many thanks

I went to a car boot sale on Sunday and saw 3 exercise bikes - two of which would have fitted your criteria, for under £20.
Keep your eyes open and I'm sure you'll be able to pick one up cheaply. Lots of people buy these things when they go on a health kick and a couple of months later decide they take up too much room and the drive for fitness has waned.
You could look on Freecycle or place a wanted ad on eBay or in your local supermarket!
HTHI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I just came across this one whilst searching online, seems outstanding for the money:-

My wife and I have one. I can't remember what make (as I tend to go running instead) but we got it from Argos and it was around £80 and looks similar to this
No problem with it and like most it gives her the information she needs. Ideal for her because she can put it in front of the TV exercise away!
What I would recommend checking the size and weight of it against where you want to store it. I mean some fold up so can be stored out of the way. Ours in rather heavy and it's stays in one room because she can't move it around.
Plus when it was delivered it needed some putting together and wasn't all fully built (easy stuff).
Good luck and well done you on the exercising idea, just stick with it!
Out if interest what about jogging/power walking for free?Regards,
Dave
If only I had a pound for every time I used the thanks button0 -

No, don't pay that much.
£50-£70 max but as consultant says freecycle first.
Get magnetic they're much quieter.
I bought wife one from Aldi/Lidl 3 years ago It looks very similar to the Vivotion but half the price and came with 3 year guarantee. She uses it twice daily no probs. I use it less often because it so boring even with a book or mp3. Probably why so many trun up on freecycle, car boot and ebay. Beware ebay; used Aldi/Lidle bikes were listed recently at more than brand new price.
imho nicer riding a real bike but also much wetter and colder of course0
