Completion tomorrow! And a few mortgage qs

Hi all
Delighted to be finally completing house purchase tomorrow (all things being well, knock on wood, fingers crossed).
So naturally, I'm still up at midnight pondering on a few things...
My mortgage is with the halifax - what happens in terms of internet banking? Will the account suddenly appear tomorrow alongside my current account? I am registered for online banking. Will I be able to make ad hoc transfers to overpay or is it a more formalised thing?
Also plan tomorrow:
- Move in (hopefully smoothly)
- Take a meter reading
- Set up electricity and council tax accounts
- Order oil
- Change locks
- Notify banks/utilities etc of change in address
Anything else jumping out at anyone?

I can't answer the question on how Halifax enable customers to manage their mortgage account.0 -
Your mortgage will appear alongside your current account, I'm with Halifax and mine does. I don't know whether it will appear straightaway though or whether it will take a day or two.
I don't know about the overpaying as I've never done it although I've just checked my online banking and my mortgage doesn't appear in the list for me to select when I choose 'Make a Transfer' or 'Make a Payment' so I suspect its not as easy as you think.

Im with Halifax, we completed 26th Feb and that morning I looked at my Halifax app on my phone and the mortgage account was already there (purchase hadn't even completed at that point!)
You can go online and set up a new recipient to send overpayments to your mortgage account.

Find out where nearby chip shop is !
Have number of plumber, electrician handy.
Charge up mobile and have solicitors phone number ready.
Hope money is all sorted and you get keys to property.0 -
I'm with Halifax & completed last week. Our new mortgage account appeared within a day or 2.
To overpay, you will need to set up a new payment. You need your mortgage reference number & add the sub account number on the end. There is a guide on the website to help you. pretty simple once you've set it up once.
If you already have a mortgage either with halifax or someone else. Cancel your direct debit for the old one. This morning I have had my new mortgage come out (1.5 months as its the first payment) & payment for my old mortgage that no longer exists! Nice little April fools for me!0 -
I truly hope today is going well for you
I know it's a different bank (well, it's a building society) but with Nationwide it appeared on my online banking account and no formality in can transfer money into the account whenever I want. If I do over £500 they send me a letter to confirm if I want to reduce term or reduce monthly payments but that's it, not complicated at all. Hopefully Halifax is similar.0
