I am due to retire in 2030 - I have 37 years of (Contracted Out) NI contributions behind me - giving me an estimated pension of £145
Because of the current virus problems - and the state of the "public purse" - I honestly don't believe that things can continue as they are and things will change - whether pensions amounts payable will reduce or not - I am not relying on a state pension
  • Hi - I reach state pension age in October. My question is are people who are too ill to have worked in recent years entitled to a pension. I had to stop working  in 2004 due to ill health. I can't remember the exact number of qualifying years I have . think it was either just above or just below the qualifying limit prior to the recent changes in pensions.  I was in full time education for 4 years (University) and also raised a child.

The easiest way to know what you are expected to get is to check your State Pension forecast available on gov.uk.

It is important you read past the headline forecast figure to see what you have actually accrued so far.  This is usually upto to 5 April 2019 at the moment.

In 2004 the qualifying years required were 39 years for women and 44 years for men. This was higher than the current requirement of 35 non-contracted out years.

Best advice is to get yourself a State Pension forecast and find out what you have.

Have you registered correctly for the gateway?
If so, do you still have the same phone you registered with? - there is an option to have the code re-sent if so.

Have you tried again? I've been accessing the site quite frequently over the last few weeks because I made voluntary contributions to add to my pension and I've been checking to make sure my records have been updated. Every time I've needed the phone code, it has arrived literally within seconds of logging on to the site.

Just wondering something. How will state pension work for my wife. She has more than enough pension years but 14 of them were from working in Greece from 1991 to 2005. She still has 4 more years before retirement. She is 62. She hasnt got paperwork from Greece and isnt sure how to find out if eca was paid.
