I think this is a good deal, I looked for an hour yesterday and found it to be very good.
John Lewis is of course expensive but all the other internet sellers of this TV give 1 yr + pay xtra for extended warranty. I trust John Lewis as well. I have had problems with products from them and they have simply replaced or refunded straight away.

See, empire are supposed to be cheap but aint for this set: http://www.flash.co.uk/content/products/details/html/SHA-LC32GA5E.htm

JL price is a good one

the most expensive i can find is £ 1773.65 http://www.hygienesuppliesdirect.com/products/product.php?prodid=4581
    Lowest Price Promise

Our marketing department constantly monitor the Internet for companies selling similar products to the ones advertised for sale on this site. To the best of our knowledge our published prices are highly competitive. If you find the same product on sale on the Internet at a lower cost we PROMISE TO BEAT THE PRICE. All we need is an email to sales@hygienesuppliesdirect.com with the web site address and the description of the product; we will then contact you with a better offer.

so i emailed them a link to this site http://www.digitaldirectuk.com/products_moreinfo3/index.asp?product_id=8072
    £889
i will see what they come up with

There are a number of new factories producing large (32" plus) LCD panels coming on line this year, so expect to see prices fall quite sharply. An old/outdated model may not seem quite the bargain it was in 6-12months time.

Can people not see the difference? I see it fine. My post was perfectly valid. Look at the warranty you have to pay out for to get a full 5 years.

More importantly I would rather take it back to john Lewis for a warranty claim than most of the other suppliers.

Always worth going with John Lewis for peace of mind! Guarantee especially good.

I just bought a 42" Plasma TV from them tonight! It's posted here.

So its worth paying almost £400 for peace of mind on the TFT screen !!!

Errm this is supposed to be a "money saving expert" site :D

As its been said in numerous surveys and reviews, paying for an extended warranty is a rip off..
Especially on a TFT.. There is very little to go wrong ( no moving parts and any build quality fault are likely to come up withing the first month). This is why 3 year guarantee is usually given as standard on TFT computer monitors.

Always worth trying to get JL to price match as in my experience they don't (or didn't last time I did it) always factor in the extended warranty.

Item needs to be in stock at a company that has bricks and mortar outlets (I don't think distance from JL store matters). So at the moment might be worth a price match with rgbdirect. Check price on rgbdirect site then ring one of their branches (see contact us link) to make sure it's in stock and at the same price. Make a note of telephone number and address of rgbdirect store. Ring your JL branch and ask to speak to undersales department and ask if they would be prepared to price match on the product. Give required details and then hope that it's still in stock when JL get round to contacting rgbdirect. With luck you should receive an offer to price match within a few days. :D
