Going BR on the 10th Sept!

Hi All,

I posted on here a while back and had some great advice however due to changing jobs etc I've not been able to get on for a while! I have however finally got the cash together and booked to go BR on the 10th of Sept next monday

Just after soon advice on handling it all really! What papers besides the forms do I need to take into the court with me monday?! I have an appointment with an OR booked right after - its the proceedure for my area - there not surely going to be able to do my whole OR interview then are they?

Thanks in advance

Well I just had to take the form and the money today, so with regards to that side of things you shouldn't need anything else. As for the OR interview straight afterwards I have no idea, someone else might know... can you call them to find out?

Good luck for next Monday anyway, it's really not as scarey as you think it might be. :)
  • Thanks for the response miss muppet :)

Did you take any statements or anything like that with you? I've got the forms all done but not collated loads of statements together to hand over do I need to?

Oh and congrats for today - hope it all went well!

I didn't take anything with me but I did make sure everything was in order at home, so all my statements and stuff are all filed away properly.

Do you run a business? I think the only reason you'd need to take anything would be if you did, because I was told my interview will probably be over the phone so wouldn't need any statements etc... Maybe it's best to ring the court and ask them, they are very helpful, well mine were.

Thanks for the congrats, it hasn't sunk in yet. :)
  • I don't run a business no, I'm unfortunatly not that organised so I dont have all my statements filed away - also because I've been paying through payplan I've not being getting many! I might give them a bell this afternoon and find out!

I bet it'll take a while to become real - I know I wont believe it on Monday! Damn that's so close its scary!

I would advise you to phone the OR's office and ask what, if any, documents you should bring.
I am surprised that they have not already advised you, unless the OR meeting, after the court hearing, is a 'preliminary' meeting in order to decide whether you should have your main interview by phone or in person.

  • At my local court the procedure is to be taken after the order is made to a private room and they contact the OR by phone and you talk to them immediatley and answer the basic questions like, "Do you need to get money out of your bank" "have you got a car, any other assets". It is very basic, then they tell you, "we will write with info, maybe forms to complete" and tell you if interview will be by phone or face to face within next two weeks.

It is a VERY basic meeting if it could be called a meeting even .. and this may be what you are in for. You need no paperwork except your court papers. Don't worry it is nothing to fear. The woman / man you speak to is giving general info only and just making sure there is nothing desperatly urgent to sort out - hope this helps

Good luck by the way - It WILL be fine - believe me (I went BR yesterday)

Wish my court had done that as I'm not sure what's going to happen with my bank account now until they call me... I think I might pay some money in tomorrow to cover a possible direct debit that could come out! Bit awkward not knowing...
