    I inherited a similar amount last year. (I am 66 and already retired....

    Unless you have an objective reason to expect a short life, a good investment for you might be to defer your state pension with a view to taking your reward as extra pension. An index-linked return of an annuity-like 10.4% p.a. is probably impossible to beat.
    Free the dunston one next time too.
