What do you put on your hot cross bun?

Options
I love hot cross buns at Easter, but I only ever have them with butter - toasted or untoasted.

I thought that was what everyone did, but DH has to have them toasted with butter and jam?!

How do you eat yours? :D

Cold salted butter and nothing else - jam would just make it all too sweet, and there's something so delicious about the contrast between a toasty-warm hot cross bun and cold butter. The same goes for crumpets.
  • Butter on the top and jam on the bottom...my nan used to make them with me & now my mum makes them with my two. :)

    Just butter!

Anything else would spoil the taste of the bun.

  • If it's really hot and cross, Vallium works quite well.

I eat them unadorned, or split with mandarin marmalade / raspberry conserve. Yum.
