Debenhams payment query

Looking to purchase an item at £85. I have £25 on a debenhams gift card and £25 on a different gift card (debenhams accept it) so i'm hoping to reduce the balance to £35 and pay cash.
Anyone know if this can be done in store? I know you can only do two methods of payment online but have read if the balance of the gift card is less than the item then they charge full amount to debit card? Is that true?

No, its not true, a Quick google search gives you your answer:
Where can I use my Debenhams gift card?
Redeem in-store
Debenhams gift cards that were purchased in £s can be spent in any UK Debenhams store. Please note that you can only use up to four (4) payment methods per purchase in store, e.g. three gift cards and one debit/credit/store card.

I don't see why not, give the cashier your first gift card telling them the amount on it, then ditto with the second, the hand over your cash to pay the balance0
