Hello.... Just wondered if anyone could help.
I bought a VW Scirrocco from a used car dealer in 2014, I have now had the car 22 months.
9 months after buying the car, the car started to develop engine problems, to cut a long story short the car has been in and out of the garage 8 times. The garage is now saying I need a new engine!!! I have complaint to the manufactur, the finance company and the dealership, but no one will help me. When I've looked on google, it seems to be a common fault with this engine!
I bought the car on a PCP, I haven't paid half way yet therefore I am going to be in £4000 negative equity if I sell the car..: any ideas?l

Thanks
Dominic

How much is a new engine?

Can you get a reconditioned one?

    How long was your agreement?

I can't see any way out for you that isn't going to cost you a lot of money. Repairing the car and running it until it can be returned - possibly at the end of the agreement may be the best way forward.

This the BXE engine by anychance? Also if under pcp remind vw that its still there car
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • New engine is £5k.
It's annoying that there is loads of people having the same problem but VW won't do anything about it

If the problem started within 9 months did you not have at least a 12 month warranty?

Only if he paid for one. A dealer doesn't have to supply a warranty with any used vehicle.

It started 9 months after but 22 months later and they have now said it needs a new engine

Was the original fault fixed or has it escalated to this?
Is it worth it to get an independent survey of the vehicle?
