Rosie, have you seen the boiling water taps that also provide fizzy water? I'd love one of them. :)

Fizzy water???? Oooh that would be lovely! Probably won't be in our budget sadly.
Magic corners I hadn't heard of but will be checking them out as a few of you have mentioned them.
Cupboards right up to the ceiling to save on cleaning would be good but the ceiling is going to be quite high and I struggle to reach the top shelves in my current cupboards even with my step stool thingy. I will make sure that I line the top of the new cupboards from day 1 to save on cleaning.

Good point re wood and burns Suki. I have Ben living with cheapo laminate for years and use trivets anyway. Pretty sure that if I accidentally did manage a burn mark that it could easily be sanded out. Definitely can't afford granite worktops.

Our kitchen fitter boxed in above the cupboards and people comment on how good it looks.
  • You can see the panels over the cupboards here. We also had LED lights over the hob and sink flyover panels.

  • I second the waste disposal. I don't throw that much down there - the council picks up food waste every week and I'd rather it went to compost than down the sink. But with small kids it's really nice to be able to chuck something sludgy in there and not worry about it (also guilty of chucking down occasional ends of mouldy yogurt or the old and digusting contents of tupperwares from the back of the fridge).

What a lovely kitchen! I love the boxed in bits at the top (I'm actually a bit scared of the space over my cupboards. We have an 80s kitchen and the people who owned the house before us left it a little bit grimy - I dread to think what the hard-to-reach part looks like...).

I had two of these fitted. Useless things. Kept falling off the runners at the top when it was opened and you had to loft the whole unit up to realign them.
Ended up having them taken out and shelves put in.

We had white units and again looked lovely but you could see ever mark.
    I agree with this!
Had white units in a previous house and said never again.
When we did this kitchen I (stupidly) fell in love with the white units  and chose to forget my previous vow - big mistake, huge!
    :wall: :wall:Never, ever again!
