By Christmas! Aaarrrrgggghhh! The thought of that makes me want to scream!
Dh took holidays now and that was meant to be our time with the kids, relaxing in the house and garden and trying to get away for a few days before work/school/college all start again.
Our big day yesterday? The Ikano bank systems went down just as we were finalising our order. Waited from morning til almost 5pm then had to go home kitchenless
Waiting for a call this morning so we can trek all the way back there to do the paperwork again. Left the hire van back too so at this rate we will have lost another two days. Should have been fitting it starting today . Ah well.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Hi, Great post. We're almost finished with our new kitchen installation. 20 hrs with the kitchen Designer, ordered from Germany, kitchen has new gloss units, with induction hob. moved w/m and t/d into the bathroom (old boiler cupboard).
The design is good, but the installation makes the difference.
So good luck with yours.0 -
We are about halfway through! The Metod system is great once you get the rail in place on the wall. Just got one more cabinet to build and some linking together of units then doors and drawers. Template guy for quartz coming Saturday so it has to be all ready, then quartz fitting on Tuesday.
Still haven't decided on splashback colour! Figured it could wait until we have a functioning kitchen.
As for the quartz edge, I have changed my mind about the full bull nose as I think it maybe isn't what I actually want. Spoke to granite guy today and he showed us pictures of his own kitchen with a lovely soft chambered edge with really rounded corners and it's exactly what I wanted but didn't know how to ask for. And the bonus is that because it takes less work, it will be £350 cheaper. Result!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

URGENT!
Quartz guy coming to template this afternoon. Which way round do I put my 1.5 undermount sink?
I'm right handed, the sink unit will have only a dishwasher on the right, covered with worktop, and to the left will be a corner unit. So on the right of the sink I have 60cm to the end, on the left I have 88cm into a corner.
Which is the best side for the grooves/drainer bit, and which way round for the 1.5 bowl sink?
I don't want to fit it the wrong way round and be annoyed every time I wash up.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Generally for a right hander, drainer on the left - as you hold the dishes etc. in your left hand to wash with the right, so it's less distance to move left hand to place dishes down.
Our old one was on the left, new one on the left, my nan's is on the left...interestingly my mum has no drainer but everyone always puts things on a tea towel on the left.0 -
Thanks. Interestingly my last two kitchens, and my mum's and sister's kitchens all have them on the right!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

All my drainers have been on the right, so I'd go with what I'm used to.....and I'm better at balancing dishes in the rack with my right (dominant) hand.0

Asked DH and DD what they thought and both opted for drainer on the right. Maybe because that is what we are all used to. Guy has been out with his laser gadgets to template for the worktop so the decision is final.
Also, the corner area on the left is where I want to put my coffee maker (kindly given to us by our neighbour when he just moved!). Not one I would have paid out for myself.

Please be aware that if you take the wonderful advice given on this thread to go for lots of drawers, that it takes a zillion times longer to fit. I got to bed at 9am this morning after working on the kitchen since 5pm yesterday. And still nowhere near done. The drawers are sturdy, and I will be grateful to have them but aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhh!
Oh, and the quartz fitters just rang to say they can't come tomorrow as promised, and will now be here Thursday. I just want it to be done so that I can cook for my family and have a clean, dust-free house again.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I was one of the ones who advocated lots of drawers! It was OK for me because I paid someone ele to assemble them. Sorry!
But I do stand by it. I LOVE my big drawers! They look so beautifulIt will be worth it! PROMISE!!
My brother has just gone out and bought an entire wall of 80cm drawers for his galley kitchen. On my recommendation. He's assembling them himself - I better find a secluded place to hide my head until he's finished :rotfl:0
