Cordless vacuum cleaner

Options
I currently have an upright Panasonic vac with bags, the cable and hose is short and basically it's a faff.

I want a cordless cleaner and have heard the Dyson is good as is the G ram but with the latter you have to buy the hand held model separately.

I have two cats who shed a lot of fur and I would find it easier to vacuum more often if I didn't have to battle with the wires, could just pick up the cleaner and go. However the Dyson is expensive. Does anyone have any recommendations?

We invested in a Dy&on 'fluffy' V6 before Christmas, and I must say it is fantastic, I like the flexibility of it, and the fact that you can use it as a short handheld for stairs etc that's the bit that swayed me away from the gram as you needed to buy 2 machines not 1 for the same options.

The cordless element means we do clean up several times a day, where as before it was a bit of CBA to get the vacuum out from under the stairs.

There are both expensive, and it took us a good 2 months to bite the bullet and buy one - if you have an Aldi near you, I think they have the cordless Dy&on on offer there soon
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

  • I have had the Dyson cordless cleaner since it first came out 6 years ago. Now they have it with the long tube and head, it will be well worth getting. I use my hand held one to sweep up bits from the kitchen floor and mats, if you need a quick clean up its brilliant and OH uses it to clean the car. When we had the caravan It always went in the van when we went away. It was also excellent for cleaning the stairs.

I also had an upright Dyson, it is on its way out and I have purchased another one, I think you either love them or hate them......I love them.

I was going to buy one of these but the price put me off. Then I used my friends old fashioned manual carpet sweeper and was amazed at how much it picked up so I invested £12.99 in one. Dog hairs, dust, fluff, all dealt with every day, no electric, no noise, so simple. OK it doesnt get close to the edges but I would seriously recommend considering this if the budget is tight.
