wiping default of credit file as condition of payment?

As above I was reading the email from MSE about rebuilding your credit file, I am in the process of paying off 2 ODs and am waiting back to hear whether my F&F offers have been accepted.

I have just read that you can offer this payment and as a condition the default is to be removed from your credit file... Has anybody had any luck with it, I haven't come across many people on here when looking through that have suggested this and if so is it too late for me to come back and say the offer I have made is dependant on the default being removed?

Cheers

Bit late now as you've already sent your offers.

Should of made that a condition of settlement, sometimes they will, sometimes not though.

Hope you used the national Debtline template letters for F&F settlement offers ?

    Hi

I suppose you could always re-iterate your offer with that condition added and see what they say.

    !!!!!!, thought so!
Is it worth trying and see what they say, I did go in with a low offer so am happy to go back with £50 more and add the condition in...

Originally I made the offer over the phone and then emailed the edited template over as written confirmation but they haven't responded to the email and the woman on the phone said that the response would come through the post up to three 3 weeks from the phone call, am 2 weeks on from that now so not feeling as confident as I was originally!

There's no harm in asking. The ICO guidance says the default should remain on there for 6 years from the original default date so the creditor may decline due to non-compliance issues, but that's ultimately up to them.
