I've started filling the forms in with Step change I was going with credit Union but they changed the date to Sept to have a meeting which was ok but then they emailed me and left a home voice message last week while I was away asking me if I could come in at the end of the week instead and apologised for it being last min as the guy was away in sept now so couldn't do the date the had given me.
So decided to fill in a step change form instead just did half of it yesterday will finish the rest off later.
I have stopped all my DD with my creditors and I have changed bank accounts but not actually done anything with that bank yet as been off work for 2 weeks and need to speak with my wages department to get the form filled out to get my wage changed over to the new bank and then setup my standing orders with them as pay my rent via standing order.
I get paid the 27th of every month so it wont be till 27th sept my wage gets paid into new bank (hopefully) which gives me a month to get council tax and rent setup again with new bank.
I'm about to email all these companies now as well to inform them DD's have stopped and explain me situation.
Is there any particular way I need to word the email?
(another side note Barcley CC) wrote to me while I was away to inform me that for months now they have been charging me the wrong amount on my min payment which was around £30 a month and from November my min payment will go upto a max of £80 a month
It doesn't matter now but just when I thought I could get ontop of things I get this.0 -
Does this sound ok as a default letter to them all?
Dear sir/madam
As of 21/08/2016 I have cancelled my direct debit with you as well as other creditors that I have accounts with.
My wife lost her job at the start of July and I have being holding out while she had some more job interviews but hasn't had any luck.
I'm currently looking at my financial situation as this has put me in a position where I can no longer meet the required payments that I have credit accounts with.
I am currently in the process of dealing with Stepchange debt charity to hopefully get a DMP setup and I ask that I have at least 30 days grace period while I try and sort this out.
I apologies for the inconvenience this has caused your company0 -

Right I've notified Zopa (they were good about it) Barcely card (passed it onto someone else at the min) Capital one (been a bit of a ** about it)
The above were done via secure message/email
Halifax and Tesco I need to write to them as they don't have an email facility.
The debt isn't as much as I thought which was around 35k but after breaking it all down it stands around 26k0
