Default after lots of missed payments

Hi,

After many years trying to sort my debts out I am now starting to see settled defaults disappear from my credit file :j

I expect that all will be gone in the next 2 years and i'll have a much better looking file...

I have noticed that 2 creditors took an "age" to register defaults against me.

Is it possible to challenge the date of the default, insisting that this should have been registered much sooner, hopefully meaning the default will disappear from my credit file sooner?

Look forward to hearing from you.

James

Yes it is possible, send a written complaint to the lender stating the reasons why you beleive the default date is incorrect.

  • Thank you Sourcrates.

For one of the lenders I stopped payments in June 2010 and a default wasn't registered until late April 2011.

Do lenders have an obligation to register a default after a certain amount of missed payments?

Or should I just chance my arm with it?

    Many thanks

If you don't think they have reported within the time scales set down there, then as said complain, saying that unless amended you will be taking them to the ombudsman and ICO
