Yesterday I received a card through the door saying I had a parcel to pick up from our local sorting office. The card said that there had not been enough postage paid so I would need to pay £3.00 on collection.
So off we go today to collect my parcel, not only did the parcel not have enough postage paid on it it didn't have ANY postage paid on it.
As the parcel was a quite thick A4 padded Jiffy envelope I paid the £3.00 and went back to my car to open it, inside was a letter and a brochure from a company called Brett Landscaping & Building Products Limited, the company is from Leicestershire.
To say I was gutted is an understatement but it was a chance I took, thinking it may have been a competition prize.
What a waste of a 20 mile round journey and £3.00
I don't remember ticking a box to receive a brochure but even if I did miss a tick box, this cannot be an acceptable way to do business?
Does anyone recall a competition by this company?
Or have had anything like this happen before?
They will be receiving an email from me
This post was just to warn others incase they have sent out a large amount of brochures.

That is shocking! I would be straight on the phone to them demanding my £3 back!
If I get any unwanted catalogues posted through my door, I cross out my address and I write 'return to sender - no more thanks' across the top and post them back in a post box. I don't even put them in my recycle bin! I would be fuming if I had to pay for one though! Hope you get it sorted Mansey!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
I can't even find a competition by them, maybe another company who sold my details “I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel

OK, but should the mail communications not actually have the postage on them paid for “I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel

I'm sure it was an accident. They send out so many brochures, it may have just accidently missed going through the franking machine.Thank you all who post.0

Worrying.
*If anyone receives mail they were not expecting that has no postage paid, you can refuse to accept it(unsolicited mail) or just not pick it up from the depot. It will be returned to sender.2018 wins-12wins0 -

I totally agree as I said in my OP it was a chance I took, I was unclucky and got crap but it could also have been a cheque/prize.

This happened to me once and the letter (missing the postage - I had to pay £1.40) was from a restaurant in the town centre. I complained to the restaurant and actually received a £20 food & drinks voucher from them. Seemed a bit of a scam at first but they were genuinely sorry0
