Hi guys,
I'm new here but I am in a real pickle. I have found some trainers I like on ebay however I questioned the seller and he states that iodine was dropped over them.
I have researched but I have yet to find a case in which it has stained white trainers. It is not a fresh stain and I am wondering if you lot could help me out?
I am wondering if it is worth the discounted price and some elbow grease or it's a lost cause?
The stain is located on the toe cap and is fairly large, I would include an image but I seem to not be able to yet.
Thanks!!

If you haven't bought them yet then don't. Let the seller try!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

He says he has used water and seems unwilling to try more.
Are there solutions or products that work best with removing iodine?0 -
I dont think anything removes iodine! I know it never came off my clothing which got it on during surgery.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

This is probably the closet to a solution I have found 'For old or persistent stains, mix one tablespoon of sodium thiosulfate with one cup of cool water. Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with this solution. Rinse well'.
But i am wondering if anyone has had first hand experience, my gut is telling me it is a stubborn stain and that I wont have much luck!0 -

Iodine turns into an effective synthesis chemical mixed with alcohol, that is in a liquid state. Halogens dry into different chemicals. There are many halo-organic chemicals called iodine each totally different behaving uniquely.
monovalent iodine, trivalent iodine and pentavalent iodine.
There are some indications that sulphuric acid can dissolve halogens in various states. It might dissolve the shoes. I don't think you can win this one.0
