1st Time Car Insurance

Any suggestions from MSEers out there? Daughter just turned 17 and learning to drive hoping she will be ready by the summer but quotes are coming in ridiculous at the minute...

Depending on the car, I would expect your quotes are around £2.5K upwards?
    Sadly that's the reality.

Personally I'd suggest getting her on your own policy for the 1st year as a named driver which in turn depending on your insurer may allow her to have accumulated 1yrs NCB. Then once she's 18 her most affordable option is probably one of the Peugeot deals with 3yrs free insurance as at around £160/month for a 108 it'll probably work out cheaper for the first few years over insuring & buying a 2nd had car.

Though not if it's her car and she is the main driver.

Well aware of 'fronting' and looking to do this by the book... £1800 best so far

Actually quite a few companies will now acknowledge a named driver as building their own NCB
