Bootea - Detox

I'm liking the idea of doing a detox diet, but can't decide if it is a waste of money and if I should just look into "eating less" for a few days.

Has anyone has any experience with the detox teas etc. that you can buy?

What are you looking for from a detox diet?

Healthy eating in the longer term will eliminate the need for quick fixes.

My boss has got a nutribullet which he doesn't use. I was going to use it when at work and prepare some smoothies or shakes in it.

I read somewhere that there was a few people ended up pregnant when using bootea and other similar teas as they interfere with the contraceptive pill. Beware if you are on the pill - I think there might be a warning on the pack now.

  • I've done a bootea teatox and it did nothing for me. I've reviewed it (google: Bootea Christie's Lifestyle). I think you're better off just trying to eat healthily and upping the exercise :).

  • Detoxes are unnecessary - you have a liver to perform that function. Just eat a little less, eat more veg and some fruit and drink less alcohol.

Hi, I'm not a great tea drinker so I have found it hard to gulp that stuff down. Im just trying a juice detox; mainly fruit and veg.

After doing my homework (internet searches!), I can see theres a lot more science to this, especially from a sugar perspective. A lot of the juices are quite high in natural sugars and some of the teas seems to have caffine in them which I guess is not good.

It seems to me that these cleanses need to contributed by lifestyle changes too. I will let you know how I get on.

The word 'detox' in relation to diets is a complete con. As Just a Girl says, your liver and kidneys are there for that, and are much better at it than some weird tea.

Going a few weeks without drinking would probably have the biggest impact on that sluggish feeling. Stick to fresh, healthy plain food like lean protein, fruit and veg and pulses as well and you'll feel grand in no time, with no need to force any vile green pulp down your neck!

Completely agree with Person One....giving up drinking will make you feel so much better, if you can't stop completely, at least have a few days off each week and avoid "binge" drinking. Life is too short for hangovers!

As stated, "detox" diets and plans are a complete waste of time, you'll possibly lose weight (which will mostly be fluid loss) but you'll feel terrible. Eating regular, healthy meals and making sure that you keep up your fluid levels (a common cause of headaches is dehydration) and you'll feel better within a few days.

Don't bother with powders/pills/potions from the health food stores. They're a total waste of time and money.
