Funding for Apprentice 25+

Hello hope you can help my name is Daniel and im currently 25. Im at a stage were im not happy in my current job (retail) and wanting to retrain as an electrician as i have a big interest in it. Currently i have been working voluntarily with a local electrician for the past 6 months on my days off from my paid job. Ive completed a basic electrical course and would love to become fully qualified but for this to happen i need to complete to nvq 3 standard approx 2 years and would have to be done in the form of an apprenticeship. At this stage i can sense that the electrician im helping would love to have me on board and understands my situation however he has only been self employed for 9 months now even though the business is going well, stronger each week i think the only way he can take me on is if he can receive any form of funding/grant. Ive already agreed I would pay for the course which im happy with.
So the question being is their any government support for giving grants/ funding small new local businesses for taking on an apprentice that is 24+?
Many Thanks for your input on this.

Google advanced learning loan.
There are also grants to the employer, contact the National Apprenticeship Servce0 -
I'm 34 and studying towards a city and guilds in Plastering, and will be looking for an adult apprenticeship when I finish.
Legally, an employer has to pay you 8.30 in the first year and 9.30 in the second year, or something similar to that. (If you're 24+ it lasts 2 years, not 3).
Employers can claim circa £6k back over the 2 years.0 -

NMW is £3.30 for an apprenticeship. If over 19 then it increases after the first year to normal NMW for your age.0 -

yes, if you're over 19..... But if you're over 24 then its what's known as an "adult apprenticeship", where the hourly rate is more and you complete your training in 2 years instead of 3.0 -
Check what youve been told here against what the official site states. Dont blindly believe anybody, including your tutors.0

Daniel, tell your potential employer to look at the CITB website, they have loads of information and contact details about taking on apprentices.0

But this is not a legal requirement which you have stated. The legal requirement is to pay NMW for an apprentice.

Employers can pay more if they want, but legally they do not need to.
The rates you have quoted are even higher than the standard NMW for employees of that age.0
