Will I get a HSBC mortgage with satisfied CCJ?

My agreement in principle was declined, with HSBC, looking into my credit file, I have a CCJ from 2012, which is now satisfied, but not showing as satisfied on my credit report. Once I have my credit report updated, i know the CCJ will remain on my file as satisfied, Some banks will still offer a mortgage if the cci is not too recent & satisfied, some apparently allow 2 or 3 if they are old. Does anyone know about HSBC ?
Any feedback appreciated

Cant say for sure, but HSBC are known for being one of the most picky lenders out there so I highly doubt it.

If you are in a rush I would cut your losses.

If you have time send the proof of payment and see what they say

It all comes down to your cirucmstances.
If you have one CCJ for £250 and a 50% deposit then I would say you stand a pretty good chance. If you have a £10,000 CCJ and a 10% deposit then I would say probably not.

Other things get taken into account also - any other arrears, what credit you have, what you use, your income, your expenditure etc etc.

If I was a better man, I would say do not hold your breath. The difference between satisfied and not can be significant, but you would have recently satisfied it. From an underwriters perspective you have satisfied a debt to get a mortgage, not because it is the right thing to do...

I am not judging btw, just giving you an example of how some underwriters would view it from experience of working at a bank.

I recently discovered that I have a CCJ that I did not know about. It's 2 and a half years old and satisfied. I'm disputing this in court BUT I might like to switch to a new provider in the meantime.

Nationwide rejected me for a new mortgage. They are my existing provder. If I pay off the CCJ early repayment fee, would HSBC accept me? Would I pass their check? I passed the 'soft check' but they haven't run a full credit check yet.

I have a 50% deposit. The CCJ was for 1800.
  • Hi.

    Short answer - No.

Long answer - maybe. Have a full copy of your experian credit report ready to send to underwriters and be prepared for a bit of a wait. So long as it's satisfied and repaid they probably will approve.
