Do I accept this job - or wait for the better offer?

I have a dilemma and don't know what to do. I'd love some advice.
I've been in my current job (Technology in a bank) for 5 years. I like the work and it pays quite well, but basically I am bored. I don't have the enthusiasm for the work that I used to. That tells me it is time to change.
Last month I applied for another job, still here in London at a UK bank. The interviews went well and it is a decent role. Similar to what I do now, but more money and a bigger challenge. Normally I would accept it...
However, another exciting opportunity has come up from a company in Dubai. I did their interviews and they also went really well. I haven't received an offer yet, but I am hopeful. If I got the offer I'd love to do it. Would be exciting to live as an expat for a couple of years, and the pay and tax rate is great. The problem is the Dubai bank told me their process is long and takes months, so I know I will have to decide about the UK bank role first.
I haven't told either bank that I'm applying for the other one...
What do I do? The UK bank have left several messages today asking if I am going to accept their offer. I haven't called back.

First job , your bored and want to move on , 2nd job sounds more challenging and more financially rewarding , 3rd job tops them all by the sounds
Take job 2 whilst you wait to hear about job 3Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Thanks. Yes, I am thinking to accept job 2 while waiting to hear about job 3.
My worries with that approach are 1) It isn't going to be well received at job 2 when I tell them I am leaving after one month. The area I work in everyone knows everyone across the industry and I don't want to get known as a git 2) Will job 3 think it a little strange that I have left my job and taken a new one while I'm still applying for their job?0 -
Job 2 is a certainty
Job 3 is a possibility- nothing more.
If you turn down job 2 and job 3 never offers you the job as they preferred someone else you'd still be stuck in job 1.
There will be other overseas jobs in the future......or job 2 may not work out and not be what you were expecting in some way and if job 3 offers you can leave because "It didn't work out" and your employer and you agree it's mutually better and no hard feelings.
Or job two could be so much better that if job 3 offers you may decide you'd prefer to stay where you are.
Not saying what you should do- just pointing out my perspective on it and some possible outcomes.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I'm kind of in the same boat - been offered one job after two months of job hunting and interviewing at 15 companies! I'm grateful to have found A Job but not The Job. I am waiting to hear back from my dream job but I've accepted the first offer for now...
I would probably advise you to take job 2 and see what happens...getting job 3 is a big if and if their process takes months you might be at job 2 for nearly a year before you go to Dubai!0 -

You have to look after yourself.
Take job 2 and if the Dubai job comes along then take it.0 -
As suggested by others. Take job 2 whilst you wait for job 3.
And congratulations btw for getting job offers.
I know people looking for jobs for ages.0 -
Ok thanks. You've helped me make up my mind.
I will accept job 2, and keep going on the application process for job 3 to see if I get it.0 -
Another one in agreement with take the current job offer and worry about the Dubai offer if / when it comes. If the Dubai job does materialise simply tell your new employer what you have said here - the Dubai company told you it would be months before anything happened.0

Is there any harm in calling Job 3, explaining the predicament and that they are the preferred option and see what they say on process?
Don't need to pull out of process, just say you are mulling over offers and wanted to understand how competitive your application is. If they are genuinely considering you then it may prompt them to take it seriously if they think there is competition for your services.0
