Wrinkly eating apples and puff pastry

I have half a block of puff pastry which needs using up (been in the fridge for a week), and four eating apples which are getting near to binning.
My thought was to stew the apples and make a pie, but worried that the pastry would go soggy.
Can I just slice the apples onto the raw pastry and bake or would that be too dry? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Make an apple pie using the pastry to make a top crust, that way it won't go soggy and you won't have too much pastry in it.0

Apple triangle? Cut up apples, mix with sugar/cinnamon/raisins/whatever else you fancy, put little heaps on puff pastry, fold over so you have pastry pockets with apple filling, make sure all seams are closed.
