Registrars - how can they charge so much?

Maybe they might cost more, but you'd have a far more personal service to include things that are important to you both. You'd also have the option of choosing the person who would marry you.
Some of the old laws like not having any reference to spirituality or having to get married under a structure are just daft in this day and age.0 -
If it's unachievable many counties have slots where you can get married far cheaper.
In Aylesbury, Bucks, for instance you can turn up at 10am on a Tuesday morning with 2 witnesses and marry for £45 (plus £70 to give notice I presume)
You could then have a friend conduct a romantic ceremony at your wedding party/celebration. Usually it's far more expensive to have a registrar come to you as they need to factor in travel costs and time. Just a thought!0 -

All registration district have to offer such appointments at a statutory fee (it is currently £46 I think) - the marriage is the legal minimum required and conducted in the registrar's office with just the couple and two witnesses.0
