I feel alone in my own stupidity.....

Can anyone advise me?...

...Firstly, as a new member, I would like to take this opportunity to say that reading threw some of the threads and following peoples progress through tough times....to see the amount of support, motivation and great comforting advice, has amazed me...sound support group!:T

Right, I will give you the quick version of my situation through my own stupidity! A couple of years ago, my credit history was the best and companies just wanted to throw money at me, the the point whereby my limit on cards was IRO £30k and my bank OD was IRO £15k... yep, very scarey. I applied for more cards and then, like I said went of the rail and racked up debt IRO £100k!!!!!!!! I can't believe it myself some days....it could even be more!!!! I am so angry with myself, for prior to this I used to be so good and careful with money.

Then of course, the letters starting coming through the door and to begin, I was using different cards to pay off other cards and so forth, until I then decided to move and hide....like I say, my stupidity(so please no patronising returns much appreciated).:o The whole thing just scared the hell out of my to the point of dispair and having a semi breakdown.

So, here I am today, after being recommended this site for people to share experiences and maybe advice, who are and have been in similar situations. I'm still in hiding and now feel that I'm in a more mental and stable place to make that move(maybe) to open the doors and take the next step.

But the whole thing scares the hell me:eek: and I just don't know what the next step would be???????

What also concerns me is, it's so much and in such a short space of time and being a new member, have yet to come across someone on here who been in the same situation as mine, though surely there are??

I'd really appreciated anyones advice, please:D :D:D

Thank you in advance all:D :D

Maybe you should post your SOA. Do you own your own home etc., a few more details would be needed for any advice to be given. ARe you working? How far behind on payments etc.

Don't worry its done now. Someone will come along to give some advice.

  • Hi Dylan T. First welcome to the board, you will find a lot of support and help. But I can see you know that.
Second well done for addmitting you have a problem and then begining to do somthing about it (sorry did that sound a bit AA:o ).
We are all (well nearly all ) on here because we have made mistakes with money. So chin up your in good company:rolleyes: .
As FYP has said it would be a good idea to post your SOA.So that people can see were they can help with advice.
However even more importantly you MUST get some advice from the following
Your local CAB Office and ask to speak to a 'money advisor'.*** The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 *** National Debtline - Tel: 0800 808 4000 *** Payplan - Tel: 0800 917 7823
These people do not charge for their service so are totaly impartial. You must NEVER pay for this advice.
Now I am sur there will be a number of people along to help so relax and ask away we will be delighted to help.
Some of the best lessons we ever learn,we learn from our mistakes and failures.the error of the past is the success and wisdom of the future. :j
  • ...thank you for your quick response.....please can you let me know what SOA means?

Secondly to give people an even clearer pitcure of my hiding, I ran away to Oz for a short while, because I couldn't deal with things and the mess I was...still am in. I'm back now, as need to deal with this.

    Cheers

If you look on the forum homepage there is a sticky from SouthernScouser that shows how to do an SOA. Basically it is income and expenditure.

    Hi Dylan Thomas. Welcome. :)

Rest assured you aren't the first person in your situation, and you certainly won't be the last.:o

As everyone says a major priority is to get some professional advice. The organisations in my signature will give free, impartial and confidential advice.

We can express an opinion on your circumstances, but if it comes to bankruptcy the court will want to know that you have sought the type of professional advice offered by these organisations. They will be able to help you work out what is the best option for dealing with these debts.

If you want to post an SOA (I&E), the link to the DFW sticky showing how is here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=107280

This asks for quite a lot of detail, but if you decide to post an SOA just include what you are comfortable with.

Hopefully between us and the professionals, we can work out a way forward for you. :)
