Reading this with great interest as having the same issue. Going to try WD40 later! Thanks Rosie for your tried and tested methodsAfter some DIY, including new plaster on the ceilings and painting, my swish curtain rails have lost their swishiness.
I have cleaned them but they are still sticking badly. I am constantly having to hook the curtains back up in places as you really have to yank them when opening and closing them.
I'd be happy to get rid of them but as they are in a bay window I don't have any other affordable alternative.
I have looked online but can't find a solution. Preferably something which doesn't cost me a penny:D:D
Thanks in advance for all the helpful replies.Working in Marketing for one of the big four supermarkets.0 -

WD40 fixes most things, except my wonky knee:DEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Whoever bumped up this two year old thread deserves a huge thank you! For the first time for four months I can close my bay window curtains without having to stand on a step ladder and swear a lot.
What a brilliant lot you are.
Silicone spray sorted the problem out in five minutes :T0 -

Another thank you for the recent bump to this thread. Yesterday I got round to putting some WD40 on the track in the bedroom and the difference is wonderful. :j0

WD40 of course. But you can also turn the track upside-down and bring the unused channel into play.0

WD40 is oil based. I'd be wary of using it on plastic. Silicone polish or silicone grease would be my choice.0

Good idea that.0
