Trampette?

Options
Hi
I've been considering buying a trampette to do some excercises in front of the TV.

I have a cross-trainer that I do 20 minutes on most days but fancied something a bit different.

I've been looking at the Pro Fitness one in Argos or VFit Tramp-Jogger from Amazon (and there's currently one on ebay that's local to me and collection-only).

The reviews seem to be pretty positive.

I'm a large-on-top lady (IYSWIM) amd wondered about the jiggle-factor (don't snigger :D) but I do have some high-impact sports bras.

Has anyone bought one of these and continued using it after the first thrill has gone or did it just get put in the shed?

How is it impact-wise on floors?
Does it rattle the glasses in the cupaboard or does the trampette absorb the impact?

Thanks for any feedback.

I will try and take it in order:

    I wouldn't know about the jiggle factor - I'm a bloke.

I used to have one and used it about as long as I used my exercise bike for. I now have rid of both! Personally I'd prefer the cross trainer. For some reason I just feel like I am doing more than bouncing ... although it was quite tiring so I am guessing that it used to do some good.

As for the rattle, mine seemed to be quite good, although it is hard to tell as my house has concrete floors downstairs.

I used mine for a total of about a week I think! It is now in the Garage! I am quite large on top also, so definitely needed a good Sports Bra, but was fine as long as I was wearing that.
It was fun for the novelty factor, but when it came to doing an actual workout from a YouTube Video, it was actually quite strenuous and i think is a pretty good overall workout! And it was surprisingly tough on my ankles!!!!! LOL.
I think the only reason I didnt persevere was because it was really tough to collapse down every time and couldnt face it when husband was out as trapping my finger once was enough for me! OOOOUUUUUUCCCCCHHHHHHHH!

Trampettes are great fun, but be prepared to spend serious money trying different support garments.
Myself, I've gone for the "squished & bound" kit which does absolutely nothing for the self esteem, (& is tough to wheeze in), but enables me to get some exercise without massive discomfort.
If I didn't want a wider range of movement I'd stick to my fencing jacket (but that's hell to wash).

I am huge on top and I wear an Enell sports bra - it really is the best ever. Expensive though. I wear it for running and trampette-ing.

Trampettes are great for a cardio workout, I'd use mine a lot more only it squeaks now and it's a tad embarrassing as I live in a flat and sounds travels...

I thought a trampette must have been a female tramp.

I bought one of these about a year ago. Already a frequent exerciser at the gym but just rather felt these would be fun as an occasional alternative or a little extra and you can jump around whilst watching TV/DVDs or music.
I don't know how much the ones you mention are but it's worth spending the money. Cheaper ones will be a bit more plasticy and not that substantial. If you accidentally jump too near the edge they're likely to tip/flip you off.
I bought the Pro one from Rebound UK which is also sold on Amazon - I think when I bought it a year ago it was about £150 and I think it's gone up a bit since but it's a good quality piece of kit, I think it's the same one used in some gym's rebound classes. Also make sure you have/buy some cross trainers which will support both the up/down and the side to side bouncing.

    Thanks for the replies.
The jury is still out. :)

cazs, I didn't really want to spend that much money on one - especially as I'm not sure that I'd take to it. I guess it's different if you've used one at the gym before.

Why in front of the TV? Do you need to catch every episode of jezza Kyle:rotfl:

Actually, I like to watch travel programmes.

Basically mine went from the shop to the car to the living room (tried it once or twice) then to the loft for years and finally to the charity shop the other month.

So yeah, not much of a success for me lol!

Same as the exercise bike which is currently acting as a clothes horse!

I get bored and unmotivated by those kind of exercises tbh. I had the same idea with both, I could get some exercise in whilst watching the Tele of a night....but it didn't work out that way and the sofa was much more appealing!

I need something to motivate me. Could be because I'm quite competitive, so I need something that will make me push myself more. The exercise incentive I'm using at the moment is bounts which gives me points for walking/exercising and which can be converted into vouchers.
