Hi,
I have just had a WEM from Quizonaut to say that I have won a mousemat. Wonderful. Have been asked to follow the instructions on Giftcable.com. I filled in the form on there, it then asked for me to provide photo ID in the form of a copy of my driving license or passport as proof of my identity. ..... For a mouse mat??!! Seems really dodgy to me. I have only just joined Quizonaut in the last week. Can anyone enlighten me please re: proof of photo ID. Has anyone else faced this? If so what did you do?
I have sent them an email with my concerns. I have put a copy of it in this post. Any advice or comments are very welcome, thanks in advance
Hello,
I have had an email from you saying that I have won a mouse mat. I have followed the instructions given via Giftcable but I am alarmed by the instruction to provide photo ID as proof of my identity in order to claim my prize. I enter many competitions and have won many prizes, some over £2000 value and never have I been asked to provide a copy of photo ID as proof of my identity (especially online). I find it ridiculous and I am not happy to provide this information. How do I know that this information will be kept secure? How do I know that this not a scam set up to steal identities for fraudulent purposes? I would like to have my prize of a mouse mat, but not at the expense of the theft of my identity.
Please advise.

They ask, no one has reported any problems but some people do not think it worth the bother/risk.
It is mentioned on the comp thread and here is one of the threads about it which has links to a couple of the others

I won an Epilator a few weeks back and it was a lot of hassle getting it. I won a mousemat last week and just left it, I'd only go through the effort for a more exciting prize haha.0

Congratulations.
You just ticked off the 'quizonaut mousemat win, query the ID verification, post on the forum about it, decide to leave it' section of your comping bingo card.
Well done.0 -
Like others I have won a few times but I only ever claim the big/first prizes which I have won twice. It is safe but it does make you scan docs/ID's etc so it is a bit of a hassle, not worth it for a mouse mat IMO. Good luck...Can't Smile Without You0

I have won both the mouse mat and cd and left them
Not worth my time. Plus i don't need a new mouse mat yet lol.
