Loan before switching to new deal (same mortgage provider)

Hello

Probably a stupid question..

My fixed term is due to end with Halifax in June and am due to switch to a new deal in the next few weeks (can't do it until April due to being outside the 3 months that I'm able to do it currently)

I'm due to get married this year, however my dad has been diagnosed with cancer so looking to get the wedding done sooner so he can be there, so looking at a loan to cover this.

If I were to top up an existing loan with my bank (Lloyds), would this hinder my ability to switch to a new deal with Halifax? I've seen on here that if its a retention/switching a product then there's no affordability checks again etc., however the advice everywhere is not to borrow before remortgaging etc., so , would increasing my loan now screw things up in being able to get a better mortgage rate in the next few weeks?

Any info/advice is appreciated

Thanks
