Frozen sausagemeat

Good morning,
I don't know if this is the right place to post this- apologies if not. I froze some sausagemeat that I bought in August and today I took it out of freezer to make sausage meatballs and it says in the label to use within 3 months. Do you think it will be ok to use? If it were just me eating it then I would probably take the risk , but I also have a 5 year old tummy to consider.
Any advice gratefully received, thanks.

I'd have no hesitation - if the freezer has worked as advertised, it will be fine.
If I was a bit twitchier, I'd make something and arrange sausage meat to form a side dish - stuffing or something, but I have teenagers who not only eat but seem to thrive on only-just-cooked frozen burgers. (When The Hunger descends, it's quite hard to stop them eating halfcooked food.)0 -
The 3 months is just their stock answer. Years ago it was more important to worry about how long food stayed in a freezer, as they were less reliable and people less careful through lack of knowledge.
If you froze it and it's been in a working freezer, kept neatly (not rolling about raw all over the place and in/out of the freezer) .... then it'll be absolutely fine.
Over time, some foods might discolour and some might lose some taste - so then it's just a question of whether you fancy it any more ... as for taste, pure sausagemeat often has little, so there's little taste to lose.
Go for it. It's fine.
In any case, even old-fashioned instructions would say food's fine for 12 months as a rule of thumb for their instruction books.0 -
