    There are pros and cons about public sector and private sector employment, although they are becoming more and more similar. If you want to move from temporary to substantive employment (note there is no such thing as a "permanent" job, even in the public sector) then public sector T&Cs are probably better at the moment, but who knows what may change.


    As somebody else posted (I'm not sure whether on this thread or elsewhere) you go to work to earn money to pay the bills and live as you want to. Not necessarily to make friends or have a good time. If you do (as I was lucky enough to experience) it's an enjoyable bonus.


    Go for the job. If you get it and aren't happy - look again. I enjoyed 25 years in the public sector, but if I hadn't enjoyed it I'd have left.
