I am thinking of looking online and picking a IFA who does a free half hour.
I have a works pension,a Bond 32 and 4 other pensions all of which I would like advice on.
Will half hour be enought? If not any suggestions.
Also What information would I take on first visit?

I had a couple of IFA's come out recently with a view to look at everything as opposed to just pensions.
I had detailed all my pots, savings, mortgage, pension etc and they took all the information along with the my goals.
They all then came back with various options and investment plans and details of their costs. All of mine lasted longer than the 30 mins too.
I basically gleaned enough information/confidence from these meetings to sort myself out for the time being as my amounts were not so large.0 -

Virtually all IFAs have the first consultation free. More or less by design as you cannot charge until you have had the opportunity to disclose your charges and present your status. Plus, you cant really state the charge until you know what it is that is being talked about (other than your fixed charge). Will half hour be enought?
I would expect the adviser to want to write to the providers to obtain information. Especially on the S32 as there is little standard about S32s.
The first meeting tends to be a concept and ideas and getting to know you style. Find out very quickly if there is a service to be offered or not. You rarely get any advice in that meeting unless its such a simple thing that can be done there and then.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
