As it says, my son has accidentally turned off the freezer. It happened yesterday and I noticed this morning.
It had veg soup and chicken stock
Bread and bread products (crumpets, pancakes)
Soft fruit
Some frozen veg
Some chilli con carne
I have removed all the meat based stuff, we can eat that for dinner
But what about the rest? The soup and stock is still frozen solid, the bread stuff is completely defrosted, the soft fruit is semi frozen?
Any advice?

I wanna be in the room where it happens

Bread is fine to refreeze, I do it all the time and I'm still here to tell the tale
Make pies and crumbles of the fruit, then refreeze
The stocks and soups are fine0 -
Happened to us once with a freezer chockabloc full of home grown fruit and veg at the end of the harvest, we couldn't salvage a single thing BUT we found we could claim on the house insurance for the lost produce. Not quite as good as home grown but that did enable me to buy back what we needed to and stock up again.
I wouldn't try to save the fruit and veg, it will just turn to mush when you try to use it but the bread etc. could be made into bread pudding, breadcrumbs, bread and butter pudding and re frozen safely once it's been cooked. Crumpets and pancakes will be better feeding the birds as they'll be 'soggy' on defrosting if you re freeze them.0 -
if you've not opened the door for any length of time everything will still be frozen.. just turn it back on!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

I would use the soup, stock and vegetables to make a giant soup and then refreeze in smaller quantities, make pies/crumbles with the fruit and reheat the chilli and put it back, unless it includes the rice in which case you might be better eating that today.
I think the bread will be ok refrozen as long as it isnt soggy.0
