Removing algae from indoor jacuzzi bath

Bought a house which has a quite old (1980s) but splendid corner bath with a jacuzzi. The water inlets have some algae growth around them, particularly on the side which is in direct sunlight. Not harmful, but very unsightly - and we are having the devil of a job trying to remove the stuff. The answer is probably 'don't let it get that way' but it's a bit late for that, although hopefully once cleaned up it should be much easier to maintain an algae-free surface.

Please does anyone have any sensible ideas on what to use? We've tried various cleaning products without success.

Bleach kills algae, followed by scrubbing with hot soapy water should remove it. It might be a combination of algae and limescale? Try white vinegar if that is the case. If you can soak some cotton wool in vinegar and sort of 'stick' it onto the affected parts, and leave it for a while to loosen the deposits.
  • HG Mould spray? Spray it on, go away for 5 mins, return, and it'll be gone.
Rinse the area with plenty of water, job done.

Many thanks to you both. Will try all suggestions (just ordered a bottle of HG Mould spray from Amazon - never heard of it, but it looks as if it should do the trick) and see which works best on this particular bath.

    Really appreciated your help.

If its limescale then Domestos Zero? worked wonders on my FILs toilet.

I have used it on the overflow of the sinks also, but may not be wise to leave it in contact with anything metal?
