Wedding venue almost in liquidation

We booked and paid £1000 deposit for our wedding venue in the middle of Feb for July 2017. However a week later I saw an article in local paper that venue was going into liquidation. I called venue to be told it has all been resolved and its business as usual but understandably we no longer want to get married at this venue incase it goes into liquidation in the next 16 months. The venue are not returning our deposit as they say they can still honour wedding. I'm so angry as they knew about the debt they were in before we booked our wedding!! Is there anything we can do to get deposit back?

What do the T&Cs on your contract say about cancellation ?0
-
I'm guessing the T&Cs state the deposit is non-refundable.0

For what exactly ?
Nothing has been cancelled by the venue. OP may no longer want to hold the wedding there, but that is their decision.
T&Cs may say the deposit is non-refundable, but that isn't always enforceable, especially if the date can be easily rebooked for another wedding.0
