Please help me point people to easy freebies

I'm running a stand this weekend to promote our CAP money course in the local area.

We're having a lucky dip style bowl of freebie tips, printed out for people to take away as a reminder of 1 way which they can save money.

They need to be easy for people, as most visitors to the stand will be new to the world of money saving.

What tips would you offer please?

e.g.

sign up for the local library - free books, free internet each day and free e-books and audio books to download online

Get yourself a Quidco account and see if you can use it for any of your online purchases

Look on uswitch.com to see if you could pay less for your gas and electricity

If football is the only thing you use Sky for, cancel your subscription and go watch the matches you want to watch at the local pub and get a glass of tap water to sup!

Would love the people visiting the stand to benefit from our collective knowledge

Thanks

Sign up for Freecycle or whatever similar scheme runs in your area and see if there is anything that you would like, or can donate.

See if there are any free or cheap classes running in your area- often church groups have craft/ activity classes.

Why on earth would staff be expected to serve you water for free that is probably metered, collect your glass and then wash it up - all for nothing?

Not to mention using their heating to keep warm, and watch their Sky which they pay for.

Don't expect to be welcomed back for the return match.

The important bit in post #3 is the last bit -

"Don't expect to be welcomed back for the return match."

They arent legally required to let you through the door :)

The requirement for a pub to provide free water is to mitigate the effects of alcohol. If you haven't bought an alcoholic drink good luck with demanding a free glass of water.
