The multi-award winning TV sitcom, Outside Edge, is out now as a complete box set, containing all three series, the Christmas Special and the original Outside Edge play, starring Prunella Scales and Paul Eddington. Robert Daws and Brenda Blethyn star as Roger Dervish, cricket club captain, and his mousy, prim and proper wife Miriam. Timothy Spall and Josie Lawrence feature as their social inferiors: Kevin Costello, a slob, and his bright and bohemian wife Maggie.
Author Richard Harris draws these four characters to perfection and we see an unlikely friendship develop as they are thrust together through the men's love of cricket into the idyllic world of a middle-England village cricket team. The idyll is an illusion, however, as this turns out to be a very thin veneer atop a seething hotbed of emotion, laughter and one-upmanship.
