Do You Always Get Five A Day?

Does anyone on here think the five a day campaign is necessary or not?. The NHS healthy eating site says we all should eat at least 5 a day sometimes even 10!. I have a kiwi fruit and a banana every day then either 4 tablespoons of frozen veg or baked beans too but according to the site it isn't enough. I also have Weetabix or no sugar muesli for extra fibre but that's not enough either. Does anyone not have any fruit or veg?.
Britain is great but Manchester is greater

I rarely eat fruit, apart from the odd banana. I take medication which alters my taste buds and I find almost all fruit too sour.
I do eat quite a bit of veg though. Although there are some days when I probably don't eat enough.
I think the five-a-day campaign is probably not listened to by the people who need it most. Same with the sugar campaign.0 -
It's not always easy to count up. With pieces of fruit it's obviously quite straight-forward, but with lettuce, salad and vegetables unless you actually measure them or weigh the portions you can only guesstimate. Then there's the dried fruit in muesli, etc.0

No, they only tell us it's good for us as there's loads of it, & in the hope that we'll get it down us whilst they feast on tasty stuff like chocolate, & a nice juicy steak. I do eat veg, & occasionally fruit though, but there's no way I'd ever eat loads of the stuff.0

I average about 5 a day. Not every day though just most days.
A banana can actually be quite large. You could split a large banana in two and make it two portions on different days if you're finding it difficult eating a lot.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

I have been known to eat an enormous plate of veg at a time. I mean really big plate of about 27cm stacked as high as possible from a 7.5 ltr pressure cooker with multiple layers of steamers (3) stacked inside on top of each other up to close to the top of the pressure cooker. A bit of everything, sprouts, green beans, carrots, red onion and various other veg. Lovely However more recently since the pressure cooker bottom fell off I eat much less. Sometimes a big plate of chopped carrots, lettuce and onions.0

I don't count but i'm sure i must have at least 5 portions.
I have cereal for breakfast and put a big handful of dried mixed fruit in it. I make lots of vege soup, so that's a bowl at lunchtime and again at teatime. Usually only have a butty for luch but with a bit of salad. And most day no matter what i'm having for tea there'll be at least 2/3 portions of veg. And then at least 2 portions of fruit.
In the Summer when stuff is growing in the garden i must eat at least 10 portions of fruit & veg.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Not sure if I get my 5 a day every day but I try to eat more veg than fruit.
I have Greek yogurt and fruit for breakfast, either a banana, fresh pineapple or frozen raspberries.
I have a banana for my morning break at work.
Lunch is usually frittata, which has onions and tomatoes, or home made savoury rice with onions and peppers, and I usually have a couple of satsuma so or tangerines after.
Dinner is usually home made veg soup of some description or spag Bol, chilli or meat and veg.
Reading that back it looks quite healthy, if I didn't snack on crisps and bicycles I would be slimmer, shame on me!0 -
