had to have my ring cut off..

Due to a medical condition, I had to have a really sentimental ring of mine cut off. It is a really good cut and the ring isn't in pretty good shape otherwise.

Will a jewelers be able to fix it? How much should it cost to have it melted back together?

Thanks :)

Yes it can be fixed. You may lose the hallmark though, depends where the cut is.

I know you posted over three weeks ago and may have had to have the ring cut. But when I broke my wrist and my hand swelled the ring was removed by sewing thread. Google the technique if interested.

My nan had to have her wedding ring cut off a few days before she died. I had it repaired and wore it on my right hand for many years - when I got married last year I chose to use nan's wedding ring as my own. The repair was 20 years ago and the ring is still going strong.

It shouldn't be a problem at all as I've had one of mine made smaller & bigger, it probably wont be so thick though now. I can't remember how much it cost, but with me being MSE it wouldn't have been much.

Ask around too, as years ago I chewed my rings up in a wild drunken frenzy, I know :o Samuels wanted over £100 to put them right, but a small jeweller did it for a tenner. Same happened with the an eternity ring I had made smaller then bigger. Again Samuels wanted quite a bit, but Warren James did it for a fraction of the cost.

It's a good thing that there are amazing jewelers who can fix that. I don't want to go to waste also any sentimental things.

I had my wedding ring cut off, it's quite thick 18 carat, I had the ring made a size bigger when it was repaired. I paid around £50 and you can't tell at all.
