Let me tell you about my experience of LPA which as been in place for my Mom for 2 years.
Just over 12 months ago my Mom had a fall at homer and as such as never been back to her home since and is now a permanent resident in a home.

My Mom banks with Santander and as soon as she went into hospital and it was obvious her mobility would not be as it was I decided to register the LPA with Santander and this was pretty trouble free and after taking copies of the LPA and my ID the bank final wrote to me to say it was all registered.

As soon as I tried to use the online banking for pay some bills it had to ring up for some help and they told me that the LPA was not registered for the telephone banking side!!

Im only telling you because you need to actually need to ask each of the companies what you have the authority to do

I still cant see how or why they would only register the LPA for certain things

My husband has LPA for his mother, along with his sister.

I agree with others about considering carefully about registering after the loss of mental capacity. My mother in law's LPA was set up in 2009 and it took several months for it to be registered with the Office of Public Guardian and then returned to her. Him and his sister did not act in their capacity as attorneys until she moved into a residential home in November 2014.

She is of completely sound mind but has Parkinson's and does not have any interest in her financial affairs any more and would rather they take care of everything!

Some banks are much better than others with registering LPAs. They are still waiting for Coutts to register the LPA on a family trust 18 months later!
